Love horses?  Love trails?  Love the wide open spaces?  Love being with fellow horse lovers?  Then Ramona is THE place for you!  Horse owners in Ramona love their steeds and embrace the equestrian lifestyle with a passion.  It is a passion that the town supports. After all, there are several tack and feed stores, a western clothing store, and trailer sales on, or just off of, Main Street.  In addition to supporting the physical needs of the horse owners in town, Ramona provides support in the form of friendship, by way of associations, clubs, and events. Ramona horse clubs are generally friendly, fun, and welcoming. Trail riding is a common activity, and many organizations sponsor rides throughout the year, in addition to their regular meetings and activities.

Whether trail riding with an organized group or going solo, Ramona boasts some of the prettiest trails in the county.  If you aren't sure where to start your ride, you might want to pick up the local trails guide, published by the Ramona Trails Association. The trail guides are also available at the Livery Feed Store. Ramona is a great place to ride and enjoy the California scenery.  There is a time to enjoy laid-back trail rides, and a time to get down
to serious competition, and Ramona horse owners take advantage of both. There is almost always a horse show or event being held in town, and competitors have a choice of venues.  There are both public and private facilities scattered throughout the area. There are small, family-oriented fun shows, and there are serious reining and hunter-jumper events that last for several days and attract nationally-known competitors.  Almost all of the local shows have concessions, restroom facilities, ample parking, and tons of fun.  Pick your sport and pick your level, and there is sure to be a lot of support and fellow enthusiasts right here in Ramona. For more information on equestrian events, check the Calendar of Events page on this site.  Ramona also has a spot for those who might not wish to show, but just want to engage in a bit of "showing off"--there are several annual
parades which take place right down Main Street. The crowds turn out in the hundreds to watch Ramona's prettiest horses and riders prance and strut their stuff. Local celebrities come and go, but few spectators can forget the sight of the many beautiful horses in full show regalia on parade days in Ramona!  On of the county's best kept secrets is the beautiful land and facilities available here. In support of the equestrian lifestyle in all ways, many of the county's best breeders and trainers call Ramona home. The range of breeds found here is truly amazing--everything from Arabians to Zebras.Ramona has an established reputation as a wonderful area for horse breeders; easy access, land and space for horse breeding and training operations, and plentyof support from the local community.

The Ramona Equine Directory, available from local feed stores and the Chamber of Commerce, is a good place to search for local breeders and trainers.  The directory, or R.E.D., is published by the Ramona Equine Industry Network (R.E.I.N.), a local group which seeks to promote the equestrian lifestyle and equestrian businesses.
